My works consist exclusively of charcoal and soot.

Charcoal drawing is one of the most original forms of human expression; there is something fundamental about touching it.

Charcoal dust is highly sensitive and reacts immediately to the slightest movement.

A breath, a brush hair, and the subtlest touch cause immediate changes in the drawing, making it a perfect bridge between spontaneous inner impulses and external physical reality.

The drawings are initially based on deliberately selected photographs, but develop increasingly into a dreamlike reality.

Inner images associated with the photographic motif and rising from the background are carefully integrated into the emerging drawing and woven together into a unified whole under the right lighting conditions. Personal fears and desires are thus externalized and put down on paper. This process of (censorship-free) associative expression always develops in an unpredictable way and shows self-therapeutic tendencies.

Transcending inside and outside, they raise the question of reality: 

a fluid, intangible transition between objective photography and the projection of inner images, between what is seen and personal association. The meaning and nonsense of spontaneously rising thoughts and impulses are objectively reflected in the image.

​My drawings are deeply personal, and the language is purely visual and must be understood through the process of simple seeing. Words therefore remain only hints. My images are what you see in them. Because I don't understand it myself, I leave your desire for explanation up to you. My art is the indefinable visualization of a gray area.
